This hourly position is part-time (up to 20 hours/week) for summer 2024. It has been designed to give the Intern entry-level exposure to the startup world and working with a new technology.
About Enspired Solutions
Enspired Solutions is a women-owned startup established to tackle one of the most pressing environmental issues worldwide. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of synthetic chemicals that have been widely used for more than 60 years to make firefighting foams, coatings, and lubricants. PFAS are known to be toxic and, due to their high stability in natural environments, they are also called “forever chemicals.” Existing, commercial treatment technologies capture PFAS for disposal elsewhere. These disposal methods risk re-releasing PFAS into the environment. Enspired Solutions is commercializing a USEPA-award-winning, patented chemical technology to permanently destroy PFAS in water and return them to non-toxic molecular components without the need for off-site disposal. We call our UV-based water treatment reactor the PFASigator™ and foresee that it will become an in-demand water treatment technology.
Our startup company is set to expand rapidly, and we need energetic, self-motivated interns to join our diverse team and help us meet our growth needs.
Qualifications for Intern – Data System Support
The ideal candidate will have a background in science, engineering, business, or other related fields, and have a degree or be pursuing a degree such as a BS or BA degree in:
⦁ Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or other applicable field
⦁ Example degrees are mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, or environmental engineering; data science; chemistry; environmental science; business management
⦁ Other qualifications for the Intern may include:
⦁ Ability to identify problems and develop and apply creative solutions
⦁ Ability to take direction
⦁ Ability to follow through and complete tasks on time
⦁ Ability to work collaboratively with scientists, engineers, and business professionals
⦁ Ability to maintain a professional attitude and manners in the workplace
⦁ Ability to be positive, organized, punctual, adaptable, and detail-oriented
⦁ Ability to thrive in a small company/startup culture including innovation, high energy, and dynamic priorities
⦁ Ability to recognize and support the value of diversity in persons, ideas, and communication styles
Responsibilities for Intern
The intern will work closely with experienced staff members and be responsible for enterprise-level tasks related to lab, office, and field data management and productivity. Enspired is currently implementing multiple apps to handle distinct business processes. The objective of this internship is to standardize data collection to support a more integrated enterprise-level data management system. Specifically, the intern is expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:
⦁ Map processes beginning with sales, contracting, project management, lab testing, chemical data acquisition, and ending with final client reporting.
⦁ Determine data fields and types that support flow between processes.
⦁ Create conceptual design and relational database connecting data from all processes.
⦁ Learn and follow standard operating procedures.
⦁ Establish additional standard procedures.
⦁ Assist with lab and financial data management using Microsoft PowerApp, Excel, and other data platforms.
⦁ Prepare standard tables and graphs for illustrating routine test results.
⦁ Establish project management process flow.
⦁ Other projects and tasks as needed as our company grows.
Our office and lab are located in Lansing, Michigan and this job is for on-site work in the office and lab.
